Stones are among my best teachers. Here are some of them, in the form of sculptures I build and photograph on my Vermont farm (click the images to see them larger).
It’s amazing how much you can learn from having your fingers smooshed by the occasional “granite kiss”: patience, perseverance, attunement––and if that weren’t enough, humility. The essay “Being Mothered by Stones” will tell you more.
